Cezar Borba was Randomly Selected from Nearly 105,000
Entries and Will Attend the Annual Two-Day Denver Beer Fest

Irvine, Calif. -- (September 19, 2016) – This week Yard House, which has six Texas locations including two in San Antonio, announced the winner of its Great American Beer Festival Giveway. Cezar Borba, a 12-year resident of San Antonio, was randomly selected from 104,836 entries to attend the annual event in Denver next month.

“I am so excited,” said Mr. Borba, who is self-employed. “You enter these contests never imagining that your name will be picked. I was just flabbergasted when I received an email telling me I had won. I’m a real beer enthusiast and cannot wait to attend. To be honest, I really entered hoping to win a $50 gift card to Yard House never dreaming I’d be the Grand Prize winner.”

Borba, who is self-employed and a married father of two, added that he plans to bring his wife with him to the Great American Beer Festival, which marks its 35th anniversary this year. This will be the couple’s first visit to the Mile High City.

The Great American Beer Festival Giveaway took place over a six-week period, from June 27-August 7, and participants 21 and older could enter once a day online by simply providing their name and email address. In addition to the Grand Prize, Yard House also gave away (10) $50 Yard House gift cards at random each week. No purchase was necessary to enter.

“This is the first time in our nearly 20-year history that we’ve ever done something like this,” said Jennifer Weerheim, vice president of marketing. “We weren’t really sure what to expect, but we never imagined that we would average nearly 3,000 entries a day. We’re sending members from our team to the Great American Beer Festival as we always do and look forward to meeting Cezar and his wife in person.”

Every year in October beer enthusiasts and brewers from around the United States make the pilgrimage to Denver to take part in the Great American Beer Festival, the premier U.S. beer festival and competition. For nearly 35 years GABF has been the backdrop for the largest collection of U.S. beer ever served at a public tasting event. As the Grand Prize winner, Mr. Borba will receive a trip for two to Denver including roundtrip airfare, a two-night stay at the Sheraton Downtown Denver, a $200 Yard House gift card, a pair of tickets to Saturday’s GABF session and $500 in spending money.

“We love being part of the Great American Beer Festival and enjoy the opportunity to mingle with our guests while we’re there,” said Gregory Howard, beverage manager for Yard House. “I’m looking forward to congratulating Mr. Borba in person.”

About Yard House

When Yard House opened in 1996 in Long Beach, California, it revolutionized the restaurant industry by creating a 250-tap draft beer system. Its lofty design, warm wood accents, and industrial vibe with the use of steel and chrome, made it a dining destination from the start.

Nearly 20 years and 63 restaurants later, Yard House still leads the way with great food, classic rock and a vast selection of draft beer while evolving into an award-winning dining destination known for its menu of American favorites, crafted cocktails and endless fleet of tap handles featuring the best American craft and import beers. The exhibition kitchen creates more than 100 items made from scratch daily with quality ingredients and globally inspired flavors. The menu reads like a road trip across America and guests can select from an array of items, including grilled burgers, gourmet salads, street tacos, steaks, seafood and house favorites.

Each Yard House has its own distinct beer list with a handful of taps reserved for local and regional brewers along with an offering of seasonal and small-batch selections as part of the rotating “Chalkboard Series.” The glass-enclosed keg room showcases hundreds of steel barrels containing as much as 4,000 gallons of beer that flow to the center-island bar through an extensive network of tubing positioned overhead. From there the beer is fed to the taps where it’s served ice-cold by the pint, 9-ounce shorty, goblet or half-yard glass container. Yard House is also well-known for its classic rock boasting a library of 5,000 songs with each location having its own distinct playlist. Yard House is open daily for lunch, dinner and late-night dining.
